Kaikai Kiki Gallery is pleased to announce the opening of VERDY’s solo exhibition “RISE ABOVE” on November 19, 2021.

VERDY, Japanese graphic artist, has his roots in Punk, Skate, and Harajuku culture. Since 2007, he has been working as part of VK DESIGN WORKS, and has since taken on a number of projects including collaborations and the two most iconic brands of his own to date, “Girls Don’t Cry” and “Wasted Youth.”

The graphics created by VERDY are enthusiastically supported by devoted fans. His original characters, most notably Vick, have become iconic, appearing not only in his own projects and works but also in various collaborative projects.

This exhibition will feature VERDY’s new paintings as well as his first attempt at three-dimensional work. From shaped canvas paintings of the original character Vick to paintings of Visty produced by Kaikai Kiki’s studio, visitors will be able to fully appreciate VERDY’s vivid worldview.

We look forward to seeing you at the exhibition.

MESSAGE FROM THE ARTIST

I have been expressing my experiences, daily emotions, and actions in the form of art. I believe this is a very important factor in expressing myself.
In this exhibition, I have projected these elements onto my alter egos, VICK and VISTY. In addition, I also created my first three-dimensional work with Kaikai Kiki Studio, and it turned out great, so I hope many people will see it and enjoy it.
