Born in Kumamoto Prefecture in 1956. Manga artist and illustrator.
Debuted as a manga artist in 1977 in Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. Eguchi’s innovative sense of pop and unique illustration style created substantial impact on the manga world. His representative works include “STOP!! HIBARIKUN!”, “SUSUME!! PIRATES”, “EIJI”, “Chara Mono”, and more. Since the 1980s, he has also been active as an illustrator in a variety of fields. Having worked on many corporate tie-up projects and record jackets, he has a strong and lasting fan base for his works that incorporate the fashion and culture of the time. In 2015, he published an art book “KING OF POP” (Genkosha) and held his illustration exhibition “KING OF POP” at eight locations nationwide. Furthermore, in 2018, Eguchi opened an illustration exhibition “KANOJO” at the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa, which continues its tour to various museums in Japan to this day. His recent art books include “step” (2018, Kawade Shobō Shinsha), “RECORD” (2020, Kawade Shobo Shinsha), and “KANOJO” (2021, Shueisha International Inc.).
